Every time an announcement is made in the airport departure lounge, I am sure we all cross our fingers and hope they are not about to tell us that our flight has been seriously delayed, or worse yet, cancelled.

A long delay or flight cancellation is really the worst way to start your holiday, or if it is on your return journey, it can mean missing work or travel connections. And with airlines cutting back on staff numbers to save money, it is increasingly difficult to find someone at the airport to talk to and to find out what you are entitled to.
